Make sure you take the time to research pets for yourself before you buy. You may not get the best information from the staff. They are also always very short on staff.

Check to see if a betta is healthy by getting some betta food and feed it. There's a hole in the center of the lid. If the fish eats the food you are interested in, that's the fish you should get.

Beware the intersection in front of Petco/between Petco & Glow. If you think you have the right-of-way, you probably don't. It's basically a wreck waiting to happen... An expensive lesson for me.
