Here's post card (early 20th Century) depicting the area where Fountain Square Park now resides. If you look closely you can see a fountain in front of the drug store that once stood on the corner.

At one time in the early 1900s, a fountain and horse trough was located in the intersection of these streets. The trough was put up in 1891, deemed a necessity for horse traffic.
