Going to Manchester? Going with a friend? The Northern Duo ticket is an off peak day return for two adults travelling together at £13.50 also cheapest option instead of two singles for one way travel.

16-25 Railcards are not valid prior to 0930 that includes the 0929 to Manchester Airport. Unless the discounted price for your fare is £12 or above. This restriction is lifted July and August.

Between 16 & 25 and travelling to London buy an annual Railcard for a third off at £28 get the Off Peak Return to use at peak times and card pays for itself. Every other journey then discounted.

Advance Tickets for most intercity journeys are released 3 months in advance. Just because you might pay one price on day doesn't mean you'll get them again. Again pointless arguing with staff.

If the ticket machine won't allow you to collect your tickets you will have to use another machine. Lea Green and Newton being closest. In emergencies staff can issue them but takes approx 15 minutes.

While you may use Solo or Visa Electron online to purchase tickets even on the Northern website, these cards are not valid in booking offices on the Northern Network.

If you haven't got 15 minutes before the train arrives ou must purchase a ticket to your connecting station. Printouts are not accepted on the train. Any Tom Dick or Harry can knock that together.

Looking to buy a Saveaway? Please note these tickets are only valid after 0930 with no evening peak. St. Helens local saveaways are cheaper than a return to town on the bus. See staff for more info.

Need assistance boarding or alighting the train? Require the ramp etc. Please make sure you make yourself known to station staff in good time to have it/them ready.

Advance Tickets are quota based once they are sold they are gone. See them online book them online it is pointless arguing with staff if you leave it too long.
