To visit the villa you need reservations beforehand,the reservations are done in the in the office of "the imperial household agency"The office on the grounds of the imperial palace west of the palace

明治時代に断絶した桂宮家の旧別荘であり、現在は宮内庁京都事務所が管理する皇室関連施設。江戸時代初期の庭園と建物群を当時のまま残しており、特に回遊式庭園は日本庭園の傑作とされる。参観には事前申請による予約が必要で、申請には郵送・窓口・インターネットの3種類がある。インターネット予約はすぐ半年先まで埋まってしまうが、窓口予約は前日まで空枠がある場合があるので、諦めず窓口に行くことをお勧めする。

They have free lockers for storage. Only need 100 yen for deposit. Great place to enjoy the autumn leaves at the villa.

On the day, come a 10-20 mins early to enjoy the pre tour video. The guide speaks Japanese but free English audio guide is provided. Make sure the leader of group bring your passport.
